So I finally got myself a Finecast model after a long while and I have to say, I really liked it. There was only 2 bubbles and a few mold issues but nothing I couldn't fix with a blade and a file and a light touch of Greenstuff. I wouldn't say easier to work with than metal since I had to be carefull so nothing would bend or break.... but all in all pretty fun. Did a bit of converting with him too, gave him a Powerfist from the Forge World SM character upgrade pack. What do you guys think?

I just built my Stormlord, which would be my first experience putting together a Finecast model. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't as good as Killer's. The cable connecting to the Stormlord's gauntlet broke off with the slightest touch. The cable was so brittle and hallow that it wasn't even worth gluing back on. Maybe I will make one out of greenstuff but I doubt it. Also, there is a gaping hole in the middle of the Stormlord's cape. Basically, one of the many hexagon shapes that make up his cape is missing right in the middle. Even at the very bottom, his cape is riddled with tiny little holes... which may or may not be intentional as even the GW 3D preview of the model has these holes. See for your self: www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat700019a&prodId=prod1380036a&rootCatGameStyle=On top of all this, the model's staff is pretty bent and I spent quite awhile cleaning up all the mold lines. Even how the model is attached to the spru is pretty ridiculous. The feet are connected to a pretty solid chunk of resin which I had to carefully saw through. This will probably be my last Finecast model I buy. Luckly, most of the Necron models I want are plastic and if I do end up needing a Lord or Special character then I will just make one out of the plastic Lychguard set.

My Necron stuff has been kind meh. I got a lord and the staff was bent kind like this ~ but it was ok. Had some holes in it, and Trazyn the Imortl cape is split like in two . Finecraft is hit or miss for the most part.

.50 cents worth of material and charging $20.00 I had the same experience with my cryptek stave/staff and with other figures all bent and twisted and I'm not happy at all with the fine-casting process,For the amount of money paid for said product the details are great but at what cost.I feel it should be better made! I feel they should use plastic their already set up for it,It can't be too much differance in the cost. Oh and by the way, with really, really hot water and you can reshape your stave/staff/figure

It's the direction GW is going with their models that frightens me. Sure, you can fix them with hot water and green stuff but where does it end? One day we might open a $50 blister pack to find a solid cube of resin.....
"I'm gunna widdle me an Overlord! YEEeeeeHaAAWWW!!"

Well if it comes too that,I feel we should not have to fix their models at all,The product should be perfect if not, don't sell it...........I've been saying this for a long, long time 25+yrs GW is like a very seasoned CRACK dealer, everybody needs their fix and they keep coming out with all these shiny new must have products,Whats that old saying......you cant polish a turd, sure it looks good in a box, But as soon as you work with it or touch it Game over.If we as consumers keep buying this crack/turd they'll keep selling it too us,Repackaged and with dibs on your first born to pay for it. Sorry if I opened Pandora's box,But you did ask about my first time with finecast........man now i feel like a date on prom night.

Warhammer is crack, pure and simple. I buy the stuff before I have money for it. First thing I think after I get paid is "what can I buy?"
Actually, crack would be cheaper.
