With the new Necrons coming, I bought out what was left of the metal Immotals at the local game store. I got them painted and clear coated, but then had a hard time inserting the gauss tubes without popping off the ends of the guns. Is there a better assembly method?

This happens to my heavy destroyers too. I ended cutting a bit off the green tube to make it fit. Hope this helps .

For my metal immortals, I started by leaving the gauss blaster's end cap off. I then: - painted the model - painted the end cap - Glued the end cap onto the two green tubes - Placed the two green tubes (now glued together w/ end cap) into the socket where they go.
If you have a small gap where the end caps and blaster's bottom rail meet. You can try shaving off some of the nubs on the green tubes or fill the gap with green stuff.

Ravix, Thanks. That seems the best way to go. We'll have to see how it works in resin.

Or MAKE PLASTIC ONES!!
I think personally the metal immortal model is really nice apart from the stupid frakking gun tip!
I did the same as Ravix, I ended up with some gaps because the end of the guns had flash so I had to trim them and then they were shorter than the rods by an mm or 2.
Oh well soon we should have new plastic ones and I CANT WAIT!!

I put in the rod then put on the end caps. It's quite hard and often messes up but for me it's quicker. I'm really looking forward to the plastic immortals becuase there is LESS BLOODY FAFF!!!!
