Has anyone else read up on the new Grey Knights codex? how overpowered a lot of things are? with plenty of thought put into counter army tactics i'm having a bunch of trouble thinking up of an anti knights army. and i don't even want to think of an anti knights list with necrons, too hard for me if you ask.
What army do you guys think would fare best against the grey knights? because str 7 rending on just about 2 per squad is nasty for psycannons. dont get me started on dreadknights; str6, T6, large blast str 7 ap4 rending? and a str 6 ap 4 flamer that you can place like a hellhound? and dont forget the sword, reroll to hit, wound, armor pen. my store manager has already shown a nasty trick to make a pretty nasty dreadnought unit. one dreadnought with 2 twin-linked auto cannons with psybolt ammunition. str 8 ap 4 twin linked shots. ew.
what are your new developed tactics for fighting grey knights? Necron or not.

Whats the range on the weapons?? Just thinking the only thing would be to out shoot them some how. Im guessing cc is out the question cos from what I have seen they pretty much all have power swords or something.
Bear in mind though that if thats what they do for the Grey Knights what goodies can we expect??

i know its either like heavy 4 36 inches or assault 2 24 inches, i can't recall but it is nasty, and with the force swords giving 2 plus invulnerable saves to some model? apothecary terminators for 40 (or 70 i can't fully recall) 2 plus armor with a 3+ invul and fnp? that is just a face palm to fight. not to mention, these regular grey knight terminators can be taken as troops. oh and be happy we necrons don't take psykers nor daemons, that draigo guy gets str 10 vs them. >_< but yeah i know, thats what i tell everyone when they read the grey knights codex. if the dark eldar, nids, AND knights get a bunch of OP stuff, so are we

that may all be true but rumour mill is at work again and it would seem that cron developement is taking a little too long so the next release may be tau as they are already ready. but like i said thats just rumours from warseer on the csg.

My local game store already has a copy of the GK codex and it didn't take long for our community to pick it a part and come up with some of the biggest BS to ever hit 40k. Not only that, it is poorly written and will require a FAQ as soon as possible.
For example: It is possible for Dreadknights to shoot and assault on turn one.
How? Well apparently there is a character (can't remember his name) that can grant units special rules, one of such is scout movement. Ok, so give your Dreadknights scout movement, and also give your Dreadknights the personal teleporter that allows them to move up to 30" once per game.
Put 2 and 2 together and you get a Dreadknight that uses his teleporter during his scout movement before the game even starts and at the beginning of the game... well, they are all in your face with plenty of distance to move and assault.
Awesome *sarcasm*
Another one of our local members also discovered a way to bring something like 57 individual las cannons using the "Space-Monkey" unit. I can't recall the specifics on that but it really doesn't surprise me.
I really don't know how I will cope with the new GKs. I pretty much stopped playing Necrons until they get their new codex... for which Matt Ward will turn into another abomination. As for my Tyranids... guess I will have to stock up on more hormagants and gargoyles and field a horde army which I detest as I like Monstrous Creatures more such as Trygons and Tyrants.

yeah don't worry, i already played em. my storeowner who already wrote a nasty list let me play it, it comprised of... Grandmaster Mordak (the guy with the ghost termies) 5 regular terminators 2 10 man squads of purifiers, with 4 psycannons and 5 Nemesis halberds. 2 10 man grey knight squads with 2 psycannons a dreadnought with 2 twin linked auto cannons. here is the kicker, with psybolt ammunition. (makes the str 7 str 8.) and 2 dreadknights. both with a heavy incinerator and heavy psycannon. this list was impressive, giving plenty of strength 7 ap 4 rending shots. completely over powered, the way i ran the dreadknights was by outflanking him, grandmaster Mordak (or whatever his name is) is a grandmaster, so u get to default choose special rules for d3 units. i gave scout to both my dreadknights. i played tau. needless to say i think i out gunned him. i only got in 2 assaults. 1 with one dreadknight vs a squad of pathfinders, and one with a squad of 8 purifiers vs a squad of fire warriors. These guys are just plain and simple, messy. They have one weakness, and that is that they are limited on range. 24 inches is the range on the psycannons. meaning i have to make it to half field. i can't give a detailed battle report at the moment, but i tabled the tau with 2 squads of purifiers remaining a dreadknight and my dreadnought. Which i'm sure the tau kid was using too many points, lemme see... 3 crisis squads with targeting arrays and twin linked plasma guns, 3 broadsides, a hammer head, 4 fire warriors squads, a pathfinder squad, full tau drone sniper squad, a commander with 2 drones and 3 body guard with 2 drones a piece, all equipped with plasma guns, and a devilish? i think he was over, but thats just me. either way, saying i outgunned tau is pretty legit. and us necron players are just gonna have to not play this army. everyone has powerweapons. EVERYONE...
