What are the best techniques for painting necrons in white? I'm starting them up as a new project which I want to get onto the table quickly, painting effectively but easily to tabletop standard. Necrons are my top choice for this but I want to do something other than black spray and silver drybrush. Would it be better to work from a black basecoat with ceramite white, which I've found goes over black quite well, or starting with white spray and washing the black shade in. I'm thinking about trying the army painter white spray and black dip.
Has anyone got pictures of white necrons and the technique used? The simpler the better as I have lots of other projects on the go and limited time to paint any of them.
Thanks for your help.

Well no suggestions but I've tried it my own way. Hopefully the images attached to this post okay. The method is army painter white primer then dipped / washed in Vallejo black dipping immersion formula. After drying I then paint the black, green and gold details and then layer on white scar to brighten the white back up leaving the wash in the recesses. It's simple but it's quick and looks good on the tabletop which is all I need. The scarabs are finished and just need basing when the materials arrive, I'll be using black grit and Anarchy green crystals.

I haven't tried this myself yet, but found this blog that has information about the sponge technique, maybe it can be of help to you. smg.photobucket.com/user/elotsip/media/Necrons/DSCF0661.jpg.htmlI have been obsessed with the Necron Tessaract Ark painting in the Forgeworld photos and it will probably be my choice of colors and technique when i will finally decide to start painting...soon i hope lol ! Maybe you could also try metallic white paint as a base color, then a dark brown wash to tone it down and give depth. I have used oil paint washes succesfully in the past, apply a thick wash then when the (stinking to high heaven) white spirit carrier has evaporated, feather the darker oil paint unto the white. This gives a nice gradual tone and you can add another brown/black wash for even deeper contrast, but with oil paints you have to wait for several days until they set, or apply a varnish sealing coat before the second wash. Oil pains take a while to get used to but they can give awesome results, excellent for weathering vehicles too !
