Yeah try to deploy at least 18" from either side to prevent out flanking assault by stealers, I usually put my warriors on the edges of my line so when the stealers show up they get a face full of rapid gauss and that either wipes them out or leaves them sitting ducks for being wiped out from the covering destroyer squads. Then usually my Heavy D's and remaining squad of destroyers push forward and try to nail the HQ and synapse stuff before the little buggers start chewing ankles!!

I love how I know 3 of the people on this site from the tyranid hive...
Not a bot: 2 Monoliths is only a good idea if they are causing a threat. The monoliths 2 guns usually don't cause that much havok, though contesting 2 objectives with 2 monoliths would be annoying to say the least.
tyranids WILL ignore monoliths. The range a zoanthrope has to get is too abysmal to deal with it, and even a carnifex needs a lot to hurt it.
Now isn't there a tactic (which i have adapted to my tyranids in some games) where you put the objective near your deployment hidden in cover, hold the warriors in reserve, take monoliths to contest opponents objectives, hope the warriors don't come in until late game, and win because you hold one objective and your opponent holds none?
If the tyranids are going to play swarm, there is going to be trouble for you in an army without transports.
In annihilation, kill off the as many "weak" things as you can to get your killpoints up. The extra work to kill the MC's probably isn't worth it. Just keep away from the MC's and don't get charged by a trygon.

If the nid player runs a swarmlord DONt i reapeat dont risk a nightbringer in cc with it. I did that (me being the nids) and crushed that c'tan even though i got in zero hits round one

Yeah try to deploy at least 18" from either side to prevent out flanking assault by stealers, you know that most tyranid players actually want you to deploy this way.

Yeah try to deploy at least 18" from either side to prevent out flanking assault by stealers, you know that most tyranid players actually want you to deploy this way. Indeed. It's still a very effective Tyranid tactic; among the few they have. Flank Genestealers. Opponent condenses forces in the middle. Small arms fire and multi-charge to lock everything down until Genestealers get there. The strategy against "split" armies is often to ball up away from the flanks. It works against most armies, but not too well against Tyranids. Unless, of course, you are playing Grey Knights. Then everything works against Tyranids...

I have set up against nid and have put warriors on both sides of my force 19" in from the sides and watched merrily as my opponent has flanked his stealers! They just can not cope with gauss rapid fire. Yeah you run the risk of being pinned til the stealers get there but now with our pie plate chucking goodies I am seeing this as a more viable option. Stick 2 Doomsday Arks in the center and warriors or immortals out to the sides. Then run lords and shards and destroyers towards the main threats to deal and the warriors (who would be camping objectives anyway) as anti-stealer on the flanks! At the end of the day if your opponent sees you set up with that defence and still flanks his stealers then he must have another trick or is silly, if he sees that deployment and decides to go for infil instead then you have a turn to re-org before he gets there and then you pie plate him!

Crush the Synapse! Destroy the swarm! This is HERESY!!! The Hivemind will be notified. Your biomass sent to the Reclamation Pool lol But seriously, it was said that their would be no unique characters? Last time I checked the C'Tan are no longer unique... As a nid player the best advice I have to give is bring things that ignore armor saves (because the nids have almost none) and bring as many Mindshackle Scarabs as you can. I just got done watching a batrep where a small group of Necron Warriors and Necron Lord killed a Trygon in one turn by tricking it into hitting himself. It was hilarious! Strangely enough I've been seeing batreps where people bring the Lychguard and wipe out Genestealers without really taking any losses.Maybe give that a shot? Their weapons do ignore armor saves and Warscythes would be great for killing those high Toughness monstrous creatures. As far as dealling with large swarms goes I'd recommend a Triarch Stalker (or the proxyied equivalent, of course). The Heavy Flamer is nice but the pseudo-marker light ability will do wonders for you! If a bunch of Space Wolves Terminators died horribly to 17 twin Linked Gauss Flayers then a bunch of Guants really should be no problem. Just take R Orbs and be prepared for CC because that's what a Nid player will want to do versus a shooty army like the new Necrons. If you have the points maybe upgrade an Overlord to Phaeron? The Relentless rule always helps a shooty army. Hope this helps. Let us know how the game went!

Actually, what I think he was implying was they want you to bunch up in the middle so they can drop the DoM. Most nids love doing this. It just works. Unless you're IG... then the DoM just glares and thinks mean thoughts.
