I have just started playing Necrons and all I have starting off is Imotekh, a over lord, 20 warriors, 8 scarab bases, 5 immortals, Monolith, Annihilation Barge, and Death Scythe, all of them have been chosen mostly from a allies stand point but I have decided to start expanding into something better, your advice would be much appreciated

if ure planning to run warriors as troops id suggest few 2 maybe 3 ghost arks and load them wit warriors here wit such transports triarch stalkers go for rerolls and synergy 2 a barges at least is a must if you are not running fliers aparta good unit is a deslord with few whipcoiled wraiths - our deathstarr if youll take an overlords or two you can tweak with royal court splitted into different units-they grant certain abbilities tothose units abbilities that differ but come in handy thus youre tailoring your units differently good combo is deathmarks with despairtes(flamer staff and veil of darkness destroyers are nice both heavy and regular due to preffered enemy everything(dlord also ) thus they reroll ones to hit and to wound night scythes nice gun large transport capacity can inser a unit of morties deathmarks warriors lychguard right where you want them to be. doom scythe same armament plus might death ray.

Welcome to the Tomb World!!
Warriors never go out there on their own for long... either 10 in an Ark or 20 with Lord with Orb, scythe and Mindshackle scarabs (prefer the latter), so I'd go for at least 40 Warriors!
Immortals are nice but more fragile as they go in tens and thus some concentrated firepower will kill them, so them with Overlord in Night scythes would work well.
NO VEHICLE CAN NOT FEAR A HARBINGER OF THE STORM, so stick one to your night scythe troops.
Triarch Stalker is great for offering the twin-linked ability, sure it is fragile and costs a lot but having a twin-linked 40 Gauss shots against a flyer saved me many games!
Fully upgraded Overlords tend to win games by themselves (at least for me), dunno if it's luck or the model just rewards you for spending 290 points on it!!

My Overlord just has Warscythe, Orb, Sempiternal Weave, Phase Shifter, Mindshackle Scarabs. If I take anything else, I either don't use it, or it does very little.
I would also recommend a Doomsday Ark, although with Imotekh around Zahndrekh would be useful for the night vision.

...or even better, a Solar Pulse to earse the night fighting effects on your turn, shoot everything, then night falls again on the enemy turn!

Thank y'all for the advice, the ghost arks and Night Scythes have been seriously eating on my mind, my warriors probably won't make it to final draft but they are a nice have around for just incase, I have decided to beef up the immortals to 10 and add a night scythe for them to ride, I am also thinking about adding the wraiths, part of my just wants to paint them even if I don't ever use them, and also I am going to run Zhandrekh and Imotekh together with a royal court from one with a destro cryptek and 2 res orb lords so as I expand into more units all my troops will have a res orb

Nice list there. I am sure it will get the job done, so batlle with it to get more familiar.
Did you use a program for the list typing? I do notice it says 15 warriors. Do mind the arc can hold only 10. The night scythe however may hold 15.

The ark is only for support, replacing what dies, and in tough spots I can use it for a cover save, I plan at higher points to be running the immortals in Night Scythes, but my favorite part about this list is the 2 annihilation barges, they can do very well against any bigger targets even though it has no AP value

Nice list but you don't need that Doom Scythe... sure it's S10 AP1 Ray but at 1000 points level you don't have to worry much about vehicles! What i mean is that you could swap the Doom Scythe for a Night Scythe and get a harbinger of the Storm and stick him to the immortals, put the Overlord with them too and mount them all into that Night Scythe. As soon as they arrive, the Doom's work will be covered by the harbinger of the Storm and plus your immortals will never take hits until they come in!
And I'm not sure about the Ark.. 4HPs ok but it is open-topped and a couple of lascannon shots will kill it fairly easy... happens every time I play with them, same with all other ground vehicles (BUT barges are just awesome for only 90 points!!)...
Think about it, do you expect the Ark to survive the front line for more than 3 turns? I don't think so unless you hide it far away from the enemy guns, in which case you just leave the Immortals alone out there, separate your army and waste all those points of the Warriors! So if it dies on turn 3, the max amount of dead bodies it can bring back is 9, which cost 117 points so it is as much as the Ark itselfSo I'd drop the Ark to get those Warriors and the rest of the points I'd use to get a lord with Scythe, mindshackles and orb... waay more survivable with that Orb around
And for God's sake pay those 10 points and get a Warscythe!!!

Might be you are unlucky with arcs. Las shots usualy are few. Rare twinlinked. So most I see miss. Those that hit I roll my insane lucky jink save 5+. Sometime it brings tears in my opponent how many times I save Those. But indeed. If a pen gets through. Slim chance the arc survives. But it keeps the warriors safe for as many turns as it in play

Well the doom scythe is cause at 1k the people I play like taking fliers so I wanted to have one too and I figured sure id do the doom scythe but I aint glue the gun in im gonna make it interchangable and I have 3 more I wanna get 2 as NS and one more as a DS the ghost ark I havent used yer as its proving to be a pain to build and im painting it as I go cause its even worse to build than paint, and also in defence of my DS they bring super tanks at the same time
