Morning all!
I am slowly building up my first Necron force, and have yet to decide 100% on a paint scheme. Having played Tyranids for a million years, and stuck to a black skin, bone carapace scheme, I feel it is time for a chance!
I like the black/blue scheme I have seen in the codex, can’t recall its name but it is the one on the Immortal armed with a Tesla! My concern is with painting my basic warriors and getting the blue effect on the rod looking decent. I expect a flat blue would not be good enough…
I was hoping someone would be able to give me some tips on how to make the gun look good!
Many thanks in advance!
Dave

If you don't want it to look flat you may want to dry highlighting and washes.

Take a look at the guns in the book, I am sure there is a picture of a warrior in the black/blue scheme and the rod has rings travelling along it and that looks really nice

That is the Thokt Dynasty. Check out my post in the Painting Competition thread. I used a similar scheme for my Warrior.

I just checked them out brassangel and your warrior looks great! That is pretty much exactly what I want to do

Thank you. I tried to do something dramatic, but simple enough to repeat over the course of an entire army. I didn't do the little "power up" rings, like in the Codex. I went with more of a stippled energy feel, and then exaggerated the lighting so it would look bright in a gaming store.

Yeah, I think the 'power up' rings would be very time consuming for an entire army!
